Elisha is the Prophet of the Lord. And we can see him growing into his position day by day. But he is not the same as Elijah. The same Spirit is on both of them, but the result is very different. We see that in the way Elisha deals with the problems he encounters… and by the way he uses the scriptures to carry out the will of the Lord. And especially in the way he uses salt…BIBLE REFERENCES: 2 Kings 2:15-20; Joshua 6:17-19; Joshua 6:26; 2 Kings 2:19-25; 1 Kings 12:26-31; 2 Kings 2:23; Leviticus 2:13; Numbers 18:19; Mark 9:49-50; 2 Chronicles 13:5; Matthew 5:13.

We go back one more time to Elijah’s last day on earth — but this time we look specifically at the places he went. At each step, the Spirit led him on his destination: From Gilgal, to Bethel… from Bethel to Jericho… and then from Jericho to the Jordan River. Why? Is there something special about those places that God is using to teach us? In today’s sermon, Pastor Grice suggests that not only the places are significant, but so is the order in which they were traveled. Elijah has made it to the top. He has had such an amazing day -- from tearing down the false idols of a nation, to bringing the people to repentance, to praying for rain to be restored and seeing it happen. In a movie, this would be where the music swells and he exits to the applause of a nation. But in the Bible, this is where the story takes a turn no one can see coming. Within a few hours, he will be running for his life... Ever had a day that went from great to horrible in the blink of an eye? How does that happen? And what should we do when it does?
